Emily started Holistic Cleaning Company in 2021 out of a deep love for cleaning — and a need to create something healthier. Living with asthma meant traditional cleaning products weren’t an option. So, she began crafting her own all-natural alternatives, discovering they weren’t just safer, but more effective too. Now, she’s using that same passion to help homes across Lancaster sparkle — minus the toxins.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of walking into a clean home — and that’s what Emily and her team deliver every day. Beyond the sparkle, the essential oils used in her process offer a calming, aromatherapeutic effect. For busy families, working parents, or anyone feeling overwhelmed, she provides a breath of fresh air (literally and figuratively).

More Than Just Cleaning

Cleaning might seem simple from the outside, but as Emily will tell you, it’s serious work.

“Cleaning is hard work! It may seem like a breeze, but detailed cleaning is a work out. However, the before and after is absolutely worth the effort.”

Before launching her business, Emily worked in marketing in the home building industry. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Millersville University and went to Elizabethtown College, where she worked toward her MBA. — all while raising her daughter as a single mom. (Her daughter’s now graduating high school!)

When she first started, Emily didn’t even have a work vehicle. Her mops and vacuums rode in the back seat of a tiny sedan — often next to her daughter’s friends. Since then, her business has grown into a trusted local service, helping families across Lancaster County enjoy cleaner, healthier homes.

Heart Behind the Work

One of her most meaningful experiences was donating a full home cleaning to a mother of five battling cancer. The experience was unforgettable — the family was so grateful, and the young children were repeatedly thanking her team.

The most touching reviews are the ones where clients say her team helped them reclaim their space — especially when it felt overwhelming to even start. That kind of impact is what makes the work truly rewarding.

A few fun facts about Emily: she once dreamed of being a teacher, pivoted into marketing, and eventually built her own business from the ground up. If she could give her clients one superpower, it would be to never feel embarrassed about the state of their homes.

As for local favorites? Emily and her daughter love Roundbreads — especially the downtown Lancaster location. It’s their go-to spot for amazing bagels and a trip to the dog park. Growing up near the Jersey border, she says she finally found a bagel that reminds her of home.
