Where Nature and Community Grow Together
Native Nook Nursery is one of those places that immediately feels like it belongs in Lancaster County. Surrounded by native plants and the sound of birds, the nursery feels more like a living habitat than a storefront. Owner Melissa Tenneson has created a space that blends education, conservation, and community in a way that feels warm and inviting.
Rooted in Purpose
Melissa’s goal is simple. She wants to help people create healthy habitats right in their own backyards. Every plant sold here is native to Pennsylvania’s ecoregion, carefully selected to support pollinators and local wildlife. The nursery carries a variety of perennials, trees, and shrubs, along with helpful guides and tools that make native gardening accessible for everyone.
More Than a Nursery
Inside the Nature Store, you will find birdhouses, bee cups, nature journals, and gifts inspired by the outdoors. The Book Nook is filled with field guides, nature books, and works by local authors. There is also a growing section dedicated to Nature Journaling, complete with watercolor sets, pencils, and workbooks for those who enjoy observing and documenting the natural world.
Supporting the Community
2% of all plant sales support the Lancaster Conservancy and Community Wildlife Habitat
5% of birdhouse and bird product sales go to the Lancaster County Bird Club
2% of book sales benefit Homegrown National Park
5% of nature journaling sales help the Susquehanna Nature Journaling Club
At its heart, Native Nook Nursery is about connection between people, plants, and the wildlife that depend on both. It is a place where every visit supports something beautiful and lasting.
